Lexus NX Hybrid Review

lexus nx hybrid

For luxurious amenities combined with a powerful engine and higher MPG ratings than most Lexus SUV models, the Lexus NX hybrid is an invigorating machine. The Lexus NX is already an excellent gateway into luxury driving, thanks to an array of comfort features like dual-zone climate control and a heated and lumbar-supported driver's seat. Hybridization further improves your drive through a more responsive powertrain supported by innovative motors, dramatically enhancing your experience.

At Arrowhead Lexus, you'll have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Lexus NX 350 hybrid. Before you visit, though, let's observe just some of the highlights you can expect.

Lexus NX Hybrid MPG, Horsepower & Specs

We begin with what sets the Lexus NX hybrid apart from its fellow trims. The 2.5-liter I-4 hybrid powertrain produces 240 combined horsepower while producing 270 pound-feet of torque with the front motor and 121 pound-feet with the rear motor. The Lexus NX hybrid is always AWD, giving you maximum control of your commute, highway cruise, or road trip. An electronically controlled continuously variable transmission and wheel-equipped paddle shifters ensure easy and consistent shifting from idle to acceleration, beyond what many transmissions could handle.

Thanks to the electrified setup, you can reach up to an EPA-estimated 41/37/39 MPG (City/Highway/Combined),1 which is significantly higher than the estimates for even the NX 250. And none of this requires exterior charging.

Lexus NX Hybrid Dimensions: Maneuverable & Family-Friendly

Of our all-new Lexus inventory, the Lexus NX 350h is on the smaller side, sitting at 183.5 inches long. This makes it a quality ride whenever you head into the city and need to parallel park or maneuver through busy traffic without feeling stressed about your sides or front.

Its smaller stature doesn't make it uncomfortable to drive; quite the opposite. With 41 inches of front-row legroom and 36.1 inches of rear-row legroom, the Lexus NX 350h is a cozy ride for five passengers. A spacious 22.7-cubic-feet trunk can handle nearly any errand or task you have to, though you can fold the rear row to get up to 46.9 cubic feet for larger tasks, like move-out days or camping trips.

Lexus NX Hybrid Interior Overview: Standard & Available Features

Lexus NX Hybrid Interior Overview: Standard & Available Features

The Lexus NX Hybrid comes in three different trim levels: the standard 350h AWD, the 350h Premium AWD, and the 350h Luxury AWD. By default, your Lexus NX has heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a 9.8-inch touchscreen display, and a custom-crafted tonneau cover. You can choose to add heat to the steering wheel to further improve your cold-weather experience, making it perfect for vacations if you plan on driving north or going on night drives. You can also add a wireless phone charger.

More luxuries await on the NX 350h Premium trim. This level adds ventilated front seats, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, ambient illumination, and a Lexus Memory System. You can also select the Mark Levinson® 17-speaker premium sound system as an optional package, enveloping your cabin with incredible ambiance or booming bass.

The Luxury trim is a must-have for families who want that high-end experience. Leather-trimmed upholstery covers every seat, bringing a homely feel to your SUV. Thematic Ambient Illumination is standard, offering "themes" that let you customize your interior lighting to your preference. Also standard is the 14-inch touchscreen, a dashboard-centering operating system that enables more versatility than the 9.8-inch screen found in the other trims.

2025 Lexus NX Hybrid Safety Lineup

2025 Lexus NX Hybrid Safety Lineup

The last part of our Lexus NX hybrid overview comes with safety technology. All Lexus NX models feature the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, an impressive suite of sensor technology designed to help make every mile peaceful. You'll receive the following:

  • Pre-Collision System With Pedestrian Detection: Carefully stops your vehicle before a collision with an oncoming vehicle, pedestrian, or bicyclist
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: Maintains a set distance behind other vehicles by matching projected speed and acceleration
  • Lane Departure Alert With Steering Assist: Detects inadvertent swaying and gently nudges you back toward the center of the lane
  • Lane Tracing Assist: Helps center the vehicle while utilizing Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Road Sign Assist: Reminds you of upcoming road warnings, like speed limit or yield signs
  • Automatic High Beams: Toggles between high and low beams based on oncoming vehicles

In addition, all Lexus NX 350h models come with Intuitive Parking Assist (to make parking easier through dynamic sensors and minor adjustments) and a Blind Spot Monitor, which keeps an eye out on your blind spot to help you avoid an improper merge. Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Lexus NX hybrid worth it?

The Lexus NX hybrid is an excellent choice for smaller families looking to save on gas while relaxing in luxury. With an EPA-estimated rating of 41/37/39 MPG,1 this two-row SUV is designed to retain fuel on long journeys or throughout the week. Otherwise, you receive the same high-level luxury as the non-hybrid Lexus NX, like the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0.

Does the 2025 Lexus NX hybrid qualify for tax credits?

No, the Lexus NX hybrid does not qualify for tax credits. However, some Lexus NX plug-in models, like the 450h+, may qualify for tax credits through the end of September 2025, which is only days away at the time of this writing. These models are also more likely to benefit from local clean energy incentives, depending on your state.

Why does the Lexus NX hybrid require premium gas?

The Lexus NX hybrid requires premium gas because the engine requires dense ethanol for its hybrid turbochargers. Without higher-quality fuel, you will likely experience lower MPG ratings, a less responsive engine, and more wear due to the cylinders not getting the fuel they were built for. You will almost certainly experience more savings over time when using premium gas over standard fuel.
